Greetings , I am Josiah Stroman

Introduction

I'm Josiah Stroman — a mechatronics engineer focused on hardware, embedded systems, control, and strategy. I want to master all of it, not just the trendy piece. I care about transforming ideas into practical, real-world solutions.

I learn by building, then breaking, then figuring out why. What pulls me in is the "why" under the "how" — why a system fails, why a design margin exists, why one fix works, and another almost does. I'd rather trace a problem back to first principles than memorize a fix, because that's what makes the next problem faster to solve. That mix of curiosity and hands-on experimentation is how I grow — whether it's in design, in the lab, or in the field.

I like problems that don't fit neatly into one discipline, because that's usually where the interesting engineering lives. This portfolio is where that shows up.

Rover

On-Going

Autonomous Rover

Built a differential-drive autonomous ground robot from scratch as the first phase of a larger aerial-ground deployment system inspired by NASA's Ingenuity/Perseverance architecture. All firmware written directly from component datasheets — no external libraries — running on Arduino and ESP32.

Hackathon

Completed

Seeds 2 Success

Technical lead on a 2nd-place team that built a smart funding-matching platform connecting users to funding opportunities. Stack: React 18/TypeScript frontend, Python/Flask backend, PostgreSQL, with AWS Bedrock, Lambda, and RDS powering the AI/infrastructure layer.
